Europe | Split, Croatia

Split is the 2nd largest city in Croatia, located on the Dalmation coast. In 2014 we sailed around the area, spending most of our time in Split but visiting islands like Vis and Korcula as well. The climate in Croatia is amazing and everything is dirt cheap too.

Diocletian’s Palace

The heart of the city is an ancient area with 220 buildings within it’s boundaries. It used to be a palace but now the semi-ruined streets makes up nearly half of the old town. The narrow streets consist of shops and cafes as well as the homes of nearly 3000 locals.

Cathedral of Saint Dominus

Climb to the top of the bell tower for incredible views over the whole of Split.

Game of Thrones tour

Take a tour around Diocletian’s palace and wander through the streets of Meereen and check out the cellars where Daenerys kept her dragons. Venturing further outside of Split you can see the Klis Fortress any many more film locations. Our guide had photos with her to show us which scene we were standing in the middle of and you could see how much CGI was used etc. There is much more than just famous film locations on this tour too.

ACI Split Marina

The oldest marina in the Adriatic Sea. Its also a relatively small marina and requires a fair walk to the centre of town but that just means you get to see more of the place.
